GET CONNECTED

Your browser.
Your account. Your agent.

Install the published extension from Chrome Web Store. No Windows companion or Node.js installation is needed. Codex and Claude require their own accounts and permissions. Public agent-directory availability is not yet approved.

1. Add MarkupRelay to Chrome

Add to Chrome

Choose Add to Chrome in the store, then pin MarkupRelay to your toolbar.

Manual preview installation (advanced)
  1. Download the Chrome extension ZIP and extract it completely.
  2. Open chrome://extensions, turn on Developer mode, choose Load unpacked and select the folder containing manifest.json. Keep that folder in place.

2. Connect your browser

  1. Sign in to your account and generate a browser connection code.
  2. In the extension, choose Connect your account, paste the code and connect. Codes expire in ten minutes and work once. Browser connections last 30 days; generate a new code when needed.

3. Annotate and share

  1. Open a webpage and choose Add instructions to this page. Select an element, text or area and write your change.
  2. Drag the panel or switch sides to uncover the page. Keep adding notes as you scroll.
  3. Review captured evidence and optional screenshots, then choose Share with agents. Shared edits sync to your account. Use Retry after an offline error.

4. Connect your coding agent

Use the remote MCP server https://api.markuprelay.com/mcp. The agent opens MarkupRelay sign-in and asks you to authorize access to explicitly shared pages. No API key is required.

Codex CLI

codex mcp add MarkupRelay --url https://api.markuprelay.com/mcp
codex mcp login MarkupRelay

Claude Code

claude mcp add --transport http MarkupRelay https://api.markuprelay.com/mcp

Then use /mcp in Claude Code to authenticate. In clients with custom MCP settings, add the same HTTPS URL and select OAuth. Support varies by client/version.

In your project, say Use MarkupRelay to apply my changes. With the MarkupRelay plugin installed and selected, use @MarkupRelay apply my changes where the host provides a mention picker. MarkupRelay lists shared pages and asks which one when ambiguous. It cannot add a custom tab picker to every client.

Portable cloud plugin packages: Codex plugin · Claude plugin. These contain remote MCP configuration and the workflow skill, with no local executable or credentials. Extract the matching ZIP, keep the folder, then use these commands with its actual path. Directory publication is a separate review step.

Install the Codex plugin

codex plugin marketplace add /path/to/extracted/folder
codex plugin add markuprelay@markuprelay-cloud

Install the Claude plugin

/plugin marketplace add /path/to/extracted/folder
/plugin install markuprelay@markuprelay-cloud

Authorize the MCP connection when prompted, or use your client’s MCP login control. Start a new project session after installation. In Claude Code invoke /markuprelay:markuprelay apply my changes. Codex plugin mentions require the host’s plugin picker.

Free and Pro

Local notes and exports work without signing in. Free includes three saved pages per browser and three shared pages per account. Subscribe from your account for Pro; the connected extension detects the plan automatically. Pro supports unlimited local pages within browser storage limits, up to 1,000 shared pages and 100 MB per account. Two browsers can connect to one account. A signed offline Pro license lasts at most seven days or until the paid period ends.

Privacy and removal

Only explicitly shared sessions are uploaded. Stop sharing removes the cloud copy while keeping browser notes. Cloud shares expire after 30 days without an update. Content already fetched by an agent cannot be recalled. Disconnect a browser or revoke an agent in your account. Remove local notes or uninstall the extension to clear browser storage. For account deletion, contact support@nwavecloud.com.

Known limits and troubleshooting

Restricted browser pages, cross-origin frame interiors, canvas internals and closed shadow roots cannot be targeted precisely. DOM changes can make targets missing or ambiguous. URL queries, fragments and form values are omitted. Up to 200 requests per page, 1 MB per target image and 8 MB per shared page. Keep exports of important notes.

If no shared pages appear, check the account used by both connections and choose Share with agents in the extension. If a code expires, generate a new one. Offline edits stay in the browser; use Retry when connected. Refresh your webpage after an extension update. Do not send connection codes to support.
